she takes time and unwraps it
opening crumpled tissue
unfolding a plum velvet pouch
to remember 
that you left yourself behind
in sparkly things
in a carved shell cameo
in a golden locket and strung pearls

she holds time
lingering
she wonders if there are unseen hands who also visit
how chains tangle when left alone in tissue
if a shell cameo might blink in the dark

 perhaps 
every now and then 
might you also take time?
reaching across from there to here
unfolding plum velvet
opening crumpled tissue 
sorting and rearranging and remembering
inadvertently tangling chains

perhaps knowing
one would look for the other
perhaps hoping
that two might meet across time
in the reflection of sparkly things
in a carved shell cameo
and in a gold locket and strung pearls
