defiant and true

they are those bent by breeze but not broken
wept by rain but not sunk
chilled by frost but not ended

they who call bee to dance 
and moth to dine
and beetle to shelter

they would invite hand to pick 
parting stem from stem 
to place hold I love you's 
and I miss you's on a bedside

they will ever say with a nod and a fall
in a season by a seed we will meet again

on certain days the sun sits just so
and an upside down bow smiles the sky
laughing yes
an oddment they say
a portent they whisper
a signal signed from the heavens

they nod
they’ve been wait watching
and time biding
held still in pause

not just yet they say
not till then they whisper
patiently they hold for a very unordinary
upside down bow to smile the sky

so when not becomes now
and no turns to yes
they open their arms

because an upside down smiling laughing bow
means that on this day
there is room in this sky
in this moment
the air fluxes fair
and today their offering will fly
