but over, over again
and then over, over again 
says that perhaps
you are not alone 

a little little touch
only a brush 
the kind that makes you wonder if you felt what you felt
once, then once more
and then once, once more
says that perhaps
you are held 

a this and then that
only a chance happening
not done on purpose
of the serendipitous sort
some would dismiss, citing coincidence
but one, plus two
and then one, plus two besides
says that perhaps
you are known 

a bitty bit of light
only a glimmer
caught on the edge of vision
blink and you miss it quick
lightning in the sky bright and then gone
yet enough to leave a shape on closed eyes
flicker, flash
and then flicker, flash flare
says that perhaps
you have been led along all along

and the joyful light lit wonder
from who we were till who we will be
I do know why and for what reason
one needs more than one 

why then are friends sent
if not to carry and cajole, to bundle up and bear
if not to magic feather from lead or make shaky strong
if not to build a posse

if not to make half a whole

Disco

in our fingers
where a disco ball spins
throwing light into corners 

there's a shape in the sky
made by breath in our ears
whose din in the dim
turns a dark vault to clear 

there's a dance to be had
in-between

which by two, wit then wait

Sojourner comes in response to the change of season. The canvas holds space for all four times of the year. Can you pick who is who?

One leaps skyward, trusting herself to the open air; one a giver of light, a totem radiating directness and self-assurance; one releases, gently falling and letting go; and one reclines in repose, making time for restoration and renewal.

The seasons are so integral to our time here on earth, and as I sit and wonder, I see them beautifully rendered and reflected in the human experience also.

Times of recklessness and abandon - of hurdling toward the new. Times of bright light and confidence - of strength and sunshine. Times of letting go - of releasing or tumbling and falling. Times of wintering and retiring - of repairing and healing.

What a poignant, complementary and full way of cycling through life.
