The mind and the heart

The mind and the heart

I've taken to writing for my paintings again recently and as thoughts move from mind to paper I've come to appreciate how learning unfolds itself bit by bit, a little at a time.

When I painted Amity I thought I had a pretty good idea of what these three were up to; but as I sat down to look a little more closely and listen a little more carefully, I found that they had so, so much more to say.

If you'd like to listen to their story and find out why they're together and where they're going go ahead and tap play.  You'll learn about how my llama, my dove and my girl work to find that oh so elusive balance between the mind and the heart.

Amity

do you see?
she called them close
reaching out into the more
no, said the girl
only a little, said the bird
stay with me then
I will show you

do you feel?
she cooed
pressing feathers to their chest
no, said the llama
nearly, said the girl
uncover your heart then
I will sing it into you

do you understand?
she asked
searching them
no, said the bird
not yet, said the llama
lean in then, she whispered
I will tell you our story
